ROOF X TENDER® 998A Epoxy Primer for Silicone is a high performance primer designed to improve adhesion and help prevent bleed through for applications. RXT-998 is a 2 component 1 to 1 ratio epoxy which sets up quickly and is ideal for many applications. Verify adhesion with peel test prior to application.

PREPARATION

Surfaces must be clean, dry, and sound; contaminants such as dirt, dust, grease, wax, oils, soap film, mold & mildew, bond breakers, curing compounds, and loose, peeling paint must be removed before priming or painting. Remove all mildew by scrubbing with a solution of 16 oz bleach to one gallon water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry 24 hours before coating.

APPLICATION

For exterior use only. Protective clothing and eyewear should be used during application of this product. Always apply on a clear, warm sunny day. Premix individual components (A and B) separately before combining. Then, in a separate pail, mix Part A and Part B in equal amounts. Use a mechanical drill to ensure proper mixing. Once mixed, product must be used within 30 minutes. Pot life 2 hours at 75°F. Dry to touch in 1 hour, full cure 24 hours. Apply in morning hours to allow maximum cure time. Application should be completed a minimum of 4 hours prior to sunset. Surface temperatures must be between 50°F and 130°F. Apply with long nap (3/4″ to 1″) exterior paint roller for porous surfaces like concrete block and use a short nap (1/4″ to 3/8″) for smooth surfaces like metal. This product should not be spray applied. Higher humidity, thicker films, poor air flow and lower temperatures will increase dry times.
