ROOF X TENDER® Fleece Back Repair Tape with Shur-Stik® Adhesive Technology is an aggressive self-adhesive repair and flashing tape for use in a variety of applications. It will adhere to metal, wood, structural concrete, concrete block, brick, smooth BUR, smooth SBS, smooth APP and most single ply membranes. Manufactured with select thermoplastic elastomers, ROOF X TENDER® Shur-Stik® Tape provides a tough and durable repair. It is ideal for patching and repairing splits and cracks, flashings, skylights, penetrations and other repairs. It’s pressure sensitive properties allow a fast, clean and easy application.
Substrate should be clean, dry and free of dew, frost, oil, salt, dust and rust. Clean area first with a cloth and cleaner. On metal roofs power wash and scrub with detergent to remove any oil or grime. Use a wire brush to remove rust. Use RXT primer on rough surfaces or in cold temperature conditions, (< 40 ̊F).
In cold climates, preheat roll in a warm room and warm the substrate with hot air. Cut to length. Shorter lengths (less than 4 ft) are easier to work with unless using a team of two or more applicators. Remove release film. Press in place using a gloved hand or a steel roller. Apply the exact length to predetermined location. Tape cannot be peeled up and reset. Always roll from the center out to remove trapped air pockets and fish mouths. Start in corners to eliminate “tenting”. Coat tape same day with either RXT-500, 700, 900, 915 and 985 coating. Apply saturation coat at 1.5 gallons per square extending coating a minimum of 2″ past tape on all sides. Once dry, apply two coats of ROOF X TENDER® Acrylic coating over entire roof surface, including tape. Selection of ROOF X TENDER® Acrylic Coating will depend on type of existing roof and your desired life expectance of coating. Always follow application instructions and coverage rates on product labels. Repair Tape must be re-coated using ROOF X TENDER® Acrylic Coating at the end of the warranty period of the coating applied. When applying in temperatures between -30 ̊F and 40 ̊F, apply primer prior to installation of tape.
